Unexpected Incident

Singer Stopped by Navy Near Jordan Border

The performer was jet skiing off Eilat when he and a friend inadvertently strayed close to the maritime boundary, prompting a military response

Eden Hason

Israeli singer Eden Hason traveled to the southern resort city of Eilat for a scheduled performance, but before taking the stage, he decided to make the most of his free time. Hason and a friend went out for a jet ski ride in the Red Sea, a leisure activity that quickly took an unexpected turn, when they accidentally approached the sensitive maritime border zone between Israel and Jordan. It appears neither man realized how far they had traveled from the coastline, but their proximity to the restricted area did not go unnoticed by Israel's naval forces.

Military personnel identified the jet ski heading toward the border and moved to intercept it. Sirens were activated and naval units were dispatched, requiring the two men to stop their ride in the middle of the sea.

After naval forces determined that the incident was a recreational ride, in whcih `hason and his friend strayed too far from shore, the pair were escorted back toward the coastline.

However, police officers were waiting on shore to conduct a brief inquiry into the circumstances that led them to approach the border so closely.

Ultimately, the unusual incident concluded without any border violation, and both men were allowed to go. Hason certainly gained an additional (and likely unplanned) experience from his Eilat visit, beyond the performance that had brought him to the city in the first place.
