Changing the North Forever: Netanyahu Orders Massive Expansion of Security Zone
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed the military to further expand the security zone in northern Israel to permanently eliminate the threat of invasion and anti-tank fire.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a directive to significantly broaden the existing security strip along Israel's northern border, asserting a determination to fundamentally alter the security reality in the region. Speaking from the IDF Northern Command following a comprehensive situational assessment with the Defense Minister, the Chief of Staff, and regional commanders, the Prime Minister emphasized that the expansion is a tactical necessity to protect residents. The move is designed to dismantle the threat of cross border invasions and to push Hezbollah’s anti-tank missile units far enough away that they can no longer target Israeli communities with direct fire.
A Fundamental Shift in the North
The decision to widen the security zone marks a new phase in the ongoing war, focusing on long term territorial stability. Netanyahu noted that while he cannot share the specific details of the classified discussions held with the top military brass, the objective is clear. "I have instructed to expand the existing security zone even further in order to finally thwart the threat of invasion and to distance the firing of anti-tank missiles from our border," the Prime Minister stated. He reiterated that the government is committed to a total transformation of the northern front, ensuring that the displaced residents can eventually return to a reality where the threat of a surprise ground assault has been neutralized.
