Parents Rejoice as Schools to Reopen Monday in Much of Israel

Israel’s education system is expected to begin a limited, phased reopening on Monday, but only in areas classified as lower risk under the Home Front Command’s regional threat map.
According to the Education Ministry, schools and kindergartens may reopen gradually in “yellow” municipalities, provided adequate protected spaces are available and local authorities approve the move.
Areas classified as “red” zones will continue operating through remote learning until further notice.
Even in eligible regions, reopening will depend on each municipality confirming that schools meet the required protection standards. Parents have been advised to check with their local authorities to see which institutions will actually reopen.
In the initial phase, organized school transportation will not operate, meaning students will need to travel independently.
Education Minister Yoav Kisch said the plan reflects a cautious, localized approach designed to balance safety concerns with the need to restore some normal educational activity.
At the same time, the IDF announced that several regions will move from “Limited Activity” to “Partial Activity” starting Monday at 6 a.m.
The easing applies to areas including the Gaza border communities, the Jordan Valley, Judea and Samaria, the Beit She’an Valley, the Dead Sea region, the western Negev, and the Arava.
Under the new guidelines, educational activity and workplaces will be allowed to operate only where civilians can reach protected spaces within the required warning time, while gatherings will be limited to 50 people outdoors and 100 indoors.
