80 Million Shekels: Massive Lawsuit Against Hezbollah on Behalf of Majdal Shams Victims
Families of 8 children killed in the Majdal Shams tragedy filed a lawsuit today for 80 million shekels against Hezbollah

A massive lawsuit was filed this morning (Sunday) with the Jerusalem District Court for 80 million shekels against the terrorist organization Hezbollah. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of 8 families whose children were killed in the Majdal Shams tragedy, seeking punitive damages in accordance with the Law for Compensation of Terror Victims (Exemplary Damages) that was passed in the Knesset during the war.
In parallel, another lawsuit is being filed these days against Hezbollah on behalf of over 30 people injured in the Majdal Shams tragedy, totaling 165 million shekels.
Background of the Tragedy
In July 2024, a rocket fired by Hezbollah struck a soccer field in Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights. As a result of the strike, 12 boys and girls who were at the location were killed, and dozens more were injured.
The lawsuit, filed by attorneys Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, Avraham Moshe Segal, Morhaf Abu Saleh, and Avi Gaz, states that the rocket, which was of Iranian manufacture, carried a warhead of 53 kg and was deliberately fired from the town of Shebaa directly at the soccer field.
Voices from the Families
"About a year and a half ago, my life was destroyed beyond recognition. The lawsuit now being filed against Hezbollah will not bring back our children, but it seeks to achieve some justice and establish clear responsibility for the deliberate attack on innocent civilians," said Layth Abu Saleh, father of 16-year-old Fajr who was killed at the soccer field.
Abu Saleh added: "Although no lawsuit can heal our pain or return our loved ones, it is meant to draw a clear line: firing rockets at a civilian population is a horrific crime, and those responsible must be held accountable. Our private pain is intertwined with the broader pain of all citizens of the State of Israel. Alongside the actions of the security forces on the front, we are also acting in the legal arena, in the hope that these steps will help with deterrence, reduce harm to civilians in the future, and send a clear message to those who wish us harm."
Attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, representing the plaintiffs, said: "Justice must be done specifically now when the terrorist organization Hezbollah is wounded and defeated. With unparalleled wickedness, they deliberately took, with Iranian funding, the lives of 12 innocent boys and girls. The battle will continue in the legal field all the way to achieving justice for the victims of terror."
