Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that the IDF is approaching a decisive victory in Bint Jbeil, a city long considered the symbolic heart of Hezbollah’s operations in southern Lebanon. In a recorded statement, Netanyahu highlighted the historical significance of the battle, referencing the famous "spider web" speech delivered there by Hassan Nasrallah decades ago. The Prime Minister confirmed that he has issued directives to the IDF to continue "thickening" the security zone to ensure the long-term protection of Israeli citizens. As three military divisions stabilize the forward lines, the IDF is moving to systematically clear the remaining terror infrastructure between the border and the Litani River.

The Battle for the Southern Stronghold

The fighting in Bint Jbeil is being led by the 98th Division, while the 162nd Division is simultaneously operating to clear out terror cells in the area of Beit Lif. IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir recently visited the western sector of southern Lebanon, where he approved plans for continued operations against both Hezbollah and Iranian assets. Zamir reported that Hezbollah has suffered a massive blow, with over 1,700 terrorists killed since the start of the campaign. He stated that he has instructed the military to ensure that the entire area up to the Litani becomes a "destruction zone" for any Hezbollah terrorists who remain, effectively neutralizing the organization's ability to launch cross-border attacks.

This military escalation comes even as the Prime Minister discusses the potential for peace through strength. Netanyahu noted that for the first time in over 40 years, direct negotiations with Lebanon are a reality because of Israel's overwhelming military power. He stated that the states of the region are coming to Israel because of its strength, not out of a desire for compromise. The Prime Minister listed the two primary goals of these talks: the total dismantling of Hezbollah and a sustainable, lasting peace. Until those goals are met, the IDF remains in a high state of readiness, with instructions to continue expanding the security zone and preparing for the possibility that the war could intensify if diplomatic efforts do not result in a full surrender of the terrorist organization.
