Report: Oman brokered "understandings" that US and Houthis would cease fire
The agreement was reportedly brokered in order to facilitate talks between the United States and Iran regarding their nuclear weapons program.

Oman reportedly brokered an agreement between the United States and the Houthis per which they would not attack each other, according to Kann reporter Roi Kais. The ceasefire is reportedly tied to the furtherance of US talks with Iran over its nuclear weapons program.
At least part of President Trump's claim that the Houthis have agreed to cease fire have been confirmed by a report that Oman brokered an agreement between the two sides to cease firing against one another. As for his claim that the Houthis had agreed to stop firing on shipping, a senior Houthi leader recently said that this does not apply to Israeli ships, at least until the "aggression" in Gaza is over.
The Omani Foreign Minister posted the following statement on X in this respect:
"Following recent discussions and contacts conducted by the Sultanate of Oman with the United States and the relevant authorities in Sana'a, in the Republic of Yemen, with the aim of de-escalation, efforts have resulted in a ceasefire agreement between the two sides. In the future, neither side will target the other, including American vessels, in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait, ensuring freedom of navigation and the smooth flow of international commercial shipping.
"The Sultanate of Oman expresses its gratitude to both parties for their constructive approach that led to this welcome outcome, and hopes that it will lead to further progress on many regional issues towards achieving justice, peace, and prosperity for all."
