President Donald Trump just announced today (Tuesday) at a press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney that the United States will end the bombing campaign against the Houthis "effective immediately" following a reported promise to stop attacking ships.

Trump said that the Houthis had "capitulated" to the US and that they do not want to fight. He said that they would take them at their word that they would not attack shipping or the United States.

The US started a massive bombing campaign against the Houthis six weeks ago with the aim of ending their blockade of the Red Sea and their attacks on American ships, including American warships protecting free navigation of the Red Sea-Suez Canal shipping lanes, following a much more passive and reactive approach to the Houthis by the preceding Biden administration.
