New, unsettling details have come to light regarding a rocket launched last week from the Binyamin region. According to a report, the projectile was an improvised, homemade Qassam rocket that included a warhead, marking a significant and deeply concerning development for security officials.

The launch occurred late at night from the village of Ni'ma, located just four kilometers from the city of Modi'in Illit. The launch site was later found, and the projectile was discovered a considerable distance away. Experts cited in the report believe this is the first time a homemade rocket from the area has reached such a level of operational development. They estimate that the rocket's potential range could reach up to 10 kilometers, a distance that could put the city of Modi'in within its reach.

Contrary to initial speculation, the rocket was not discovered during its production or in storage. It was a live launch, a fact that has raised significant alarm among security officials who are calling the incident a "precedent-setting" event.

In a statement, the IDF spokesperson confirmed the detection of an "improvised rocket" in the Ni'ma area. The statement noted that a preliminary examination showed the device "lacked a warhead and standard explosives," which appears to contradict other reports. The spokesperson added that the item is currently under investigation by explosives experts from the Border Police, who are conducting an operational and intelligence effort to dismantle the infrastructure responsible for the launch.

Following the event, Palestinian Authority security forces apprehended the individuals involved in the launch. However, they have yet to be handed over to the IDF. Searches in the area also led to the discovery of two additional rockets.
