Devastating
Rom Braslavski Breaks Our Hearts Again
Rom Braslavski spent more than 700 days in the literal depths of hell. He endured things none of us would want to imagine in our worst nightmares and he is struggling with those who dare to judge him.

Recently freed hostage Rom Braskalvksi lashed out on Sunday, "accused the government of ignoring the plight of the released captives who are “truly suffering,” as they deal with prolonged trauma and said the financial assistance provided to them was completely inadequate" per the Times of Israel.
Today, he wrote another haunting post, explaining and apologizing:
Hello everyone,
After my last post I felt the need to clarify. This will be my final post here. The previous post was written in the middle of an emotional storm and a small panic attack that made me unload on the keyboard to my Facebook friends, and it caused many people to turn against me.
In that post I claimed I only get contempt from the state and its institutions, that they don’t help enough, and I belittled the salary I receive from them. I want to apologize to those institutions, the government, and the state. All the agencies are helping to the best of their ability; the problem is that it’s simply not enough… I’ll say it again: I am indeed disappointed and sad about the treatment and the lack of sufficient support for us who returned from captivity, but I am still grateful and thankful for every recognition I do receive from them. Thank you to the Defense Ministry, the government, and the state. It’s just a shame you can’t do more for us.
Ready for more?
Ready for more?
In the article that was published, my words of gratitude were left out.
So I’m repeating them here in writing:
I want to thank the IDF soldiers, the combat-trauma veterans, the IDF disabled veterans, and every private or public individual who fought for us. I want to thank the entire people of Israel who did everything so we could come home and now that moment has arrived and we are here, back from hell. Thank you all.
I am sorry to all the bereaved families and to every victim of terror attacks. We didn’t choose to be Jews, we were privileged to be born Jewish. “By your sword you shall live.” Our struggle for existence will go on forever.
Thank you, people of Israel. I wish for us to stop the internal conflicts and focus on love and unity.
And to everyone who comments about money and nonsense, calculating how much I get, what compensation returned hostages receive, and sticking their nose into my pocket, here’s a quick calculation for you: every half-minute as a Jewish prisoner of Muslim Hamas inside the Gaza Strip during a brutal war is worth 10 million dollars. And all the money in the world isn’t worth it. I pray to God to take everything I’ve been given if He’ll just give me back my normal life, regular, happy, without nightmares and panic attacks.
So before you write something nasty about hostages or IDF disabled veterans, I truly hope you get to walk in our shoes for even one day, and then we’ll see how heroic you are, if you can even speak afterward…
I salute you, soldiers of the IDF.
I salute my friends in rehab at Sheba.
I salute you, security forces.
I salute all of you.
We will die for this flag!
And to all our enemies: Am Yisrael Chai and we will keep living, and nothing will ever break us.
