Shin Bet Chief to Quit
There’s a date: This is the day Ronen Bar is expected to resign
A senior Israeli official is reportedly preparing to step down amid increasing political pressure and internal criticism. His anticipated resignation has sparked renewed debate over leadership, accountability, and the future of Israel’s security institutions.

After reports that Ronen Bar is expected to announce his resignation in the coming weeks – today the date he is expected to resign was reported, and it’s closer than ever. Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar is expected to announce his resignation on May 15, in less than four weeks, according to a report today (Saturday night) by Amit Segal.
As a reminder, already last week we reported that Ronen Bar was expected to announce the date of his resignation. In recent conversations he held, Bar reiterated his intention to step down at least twice, while sharply criticizing the Prime Minister and emphasizing the need to appoint a suitable new head and to establish a state commission of inquiry.
According to him, he is aware of the implications the legal battle surrounding his tenure has on the functioning of the Shin Bet, which increases the assessment that he will choose to end his role quickly.
Last Wednesday, MK Ariel Kallner (Likud) and MK Tzvi Sukkot (Religious Zionism) announced that they would not honor the Supreme Court ruling regarding the dismissal of Shin Bet Chief Ronen Bar. In an interview with Channel 14, Sukkot said: “With all due respect to the Supreme Court, we have to say – we don’t accept this, we don’t respect this,” and continued, “I think the government should boycott Ronen Bar from now on. There is a sovereign in the State of Israel – the people, who are the sovereign, elected the Knesset of Israel to represent the people and to determine the laws.”
