Israel - Gaza War, Tomer Greenberg HY"D
In His Memory: This is How the Commander of the 13th Battalion Uplifted the Warriors Whose Comrades Fell
Five days after the surprise attack by Hamas, 13th Battalion Commander Tomer Greenberg grabbed his soldiers and urged them: "I am proud of each and every one who is standing here. Guys, 13th Battalion are heroes, but this is only the beginning".

The commander of Golani's 13th Battalion, Lt. Col. Tomer Greenberg HY"D, was killed yesterday in the battle in Shejaiya. This is the battalion that suffered the largest number of casualties in the Hamas surprise attack - 41 casualties in the Nahal Oz outpost and its surroundings.
That week, Greenberg gathered his soldiers and reminded them of the heroism of Golani fighters in the Yom Kippur War. He told them their heroism was no less than that of their parents' and grandparents' generations.
13th Battalion - heroes
"In ten years, the 13th battalion will have a hero headquarters, with heroic fighters, some of you will already be parents, and some of you don't know where you will be. He will raise the battalion on Yom Kippur and tell about you and show pictures of our dead."
"So you're probably not that spoiled," added the general, "and you're not the iPhone generation, I'm proud of each and every one of you standing here."
"Guys, the 13th Battalion are heroes, but this is only the beginning. We have more nights of defense, and we have another operation to maneuver. I will just finish what I started - the prophecy that has come true. The Yom Kippur generation - one to one."
