Shocking Attack
Miracle on Highway 5: Terrorist Hurls Axe at Moving Car, Driver Escapes Unharmed
Miracle on Highway 5: A terrorist hurled an axe at a moving car in Samaria, embedding it in the windshield, but the driver and passengers escaped unharmed in a chilling near-miss attack. Security forces investigate as tensions rise.

In a heart-stopping incident that could easily have ended in tragedy, a terrorist hurled an axe at a passing vehicle on Highway 5 in western Samaria last night, embedding the weapon in the front windshield, but miraculously leaving the driver and her three passengers unscathed.
The axe attack occurred as 23-year-old Meirav was driving from Kedumim toward Petah Tikva. "We left Kedumim heading to Petah Tikva. Three minutes before the Havat Shomron checkpoint, we heard a boom," Meirav recounted. "I called 1208, the emergency hotline, at that moment, I didn't understand what was happening. We reached the checkpoint, and forces arrived there."
The axe was apparently thrown from the direction of the Palestinian village of Mas'ha, according to initial reports. Incredibly, the vehicle continued safely to the checkpoint, where security personnel provided immediate assistance.
"The incident unfolded very quickly and professionally," Meirav added. "Forces arrived right away and helped us. We were two girls and a hitchhiker. I hope they catch the terrorist and anyone involved. People living in Samaria deserve to feel safe."
Although no one was physically injured, one of the people in the car was taken to hospital after suffering from severe shock.
Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, was briefed on the event and spoke with senior security officials. He described the driver as a resident of one of the Gush Dan cities who escaped physical harm in what he called a "miracle."
Dagan slammed the Palestinian Authority as a "bitter enemy engaged in incitement, leading terrorism, and funding terrorism, whether through their so-called 'security mechanisms' or via Hamas and the Popular Front.
"Emphasizing Samaria's role as Israel's "protective belt," Dagan demanded swift action: "We expect resounding measures against the village, including a siege, imposing a curfew, and going house to house. This attack ended in a miracle without casualties, we demand it be treated as a severe incident. We won't accept the return of attacks to the area."
This miraculous near-miss comes amid heightened tensions, following a combined shooting and ramming attempt near Highway 443 just days ago. Security forces are investigating, with no arrests reported yet.
