Palestinian attempt to Red Card Israel at Paris Olympics comes up short
The Palestinian Football Association (PFA) urged FIFA to ban Israel from the games.

Despite a concerted effort by the Palestinian Football Association (PFA) to prevent them from competing, Israel’s men’s national soccer team is set to pursue Olympic glory.
In May, the PFA submitted a proposal to FIFA, urging the league to ban Israel from the upcoming games. This proposal, supported by the Asian Football Confederation, accused Israel of violating FIFA’s human rights statutes due to its alleged actions in Gaza, including accusations of committing “genocide.”
FIFA initially promised to address the issue and provide insights from its independent legal assessment by the start of the Olympic soccer tournament. However, in a surprising turn, FIFA announced a deadline extension, pushing the decision to August 31. The PFA has voiced frustration over the lack of clarity and detailed information regarding the investigation process.
The Olympic soccer tournament, scheduled to be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, will feature Israel’s team competing in the group stage against formidable opponents, including Mali, Paraguay, and Japan. The team's performance in these matches will be crucial for advancing to the knockout rounds and achieving their Olympic aspirations.
