Defense Ministry, Laser Interception Technology
Defense Ministry signs NIS 2 billion contract for advanced laser interception development
The massive contract promises expanded laser defenses, setting a new standard in interception capabilities.

The Israeli Ministry of Defense signed a huge deal, worth about NIS 2 billion, today (Monday) to significantly expand the procurement of laser interception systems.
The deal was signed by the Ministry of Defense together with the main developer, Rafael and Elbit Systems.
The laser is effective, precise, easy to operate and significantly cheaper than any other existing means of protection.
Two years ago, a laser-based interception system successfully intercepted a rocket and an unmanned aerial vehicle for the first time in history. Israel is among the first countries in the world to successfully develop powerful laser technology into a system of operational standards and demonstrate interception in an operational scenario.
