On Wednesday morning, IDF forces responded to a ceasefire breach by the Hezbollah terror group near the Lebanese village of Kfarkela, overlooking the northern Israeli town of Metula. Israeli soldiers fired warning shots after spotting Hezbollah militants approaching the area.

The incident occurred just hours after a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon took effect at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Brokered by the United States and approved by the Israeli Cabinet in a 10-1 vote, the deal mandates that only Lebanese military forces, not Hezbollah or other armed groups, are permitted south of the Litani River.

While Hezbollah is not a signatory to the agreement, the ceasefire stipulates that all armed groups in Lebanon, including Hezbollah, must refrain from offensive actions against Israel. In return, Israel pledged not to conduct offensive military operations in Lebanon by land, air, or sea.

This initial violation underscores the fragile nature of the agreement and raises concerns about the ongoing role of Hezbollah in the region despite international efforts to stabilize the border.
