Licking its wounds
Hezbollah tallies its losses: 4,000 fighters killed, 100,000 homes destroyed
The devastating aftermath of war leaves Lebanon reeling with billions in damages.

Since the ceasefire in the north went into effect yesterday (Wednesday), Hezbollah has begun counting its many dead, some of whom are still scattered under the rubble in southern Lebanon and Beirut, as well as the destruction of property.
According to a report from Reuters, a Hezbollah source claims that Hezbollah apparently lost 4,000 terrorists and operatives during the war, which is more than 10 times the number of casualties the terrorist organization counted in the Second Lebanon War in 2006. It has also suffered massive property damage, on the order of 100,000 homes.
Once the ceasefire goes into effect, Hezbollah will focus on three main strategies: establishing and re-establishing its entire organizational structure and command echelons; an in-depth investigation into the leaks and intelligence holes exposed in the organization after the waves of assassinations and attacks on Hezbollah headquarters and bases; and a comprehensive investigation of the organization's fighting over the past year – including Hezbollah's erroneous assessments of the seriousness of Israel's intentions and threats.
The war in Lebanon, which culminated in the IDF's ground maneuver that wreaked havoc in the terror villages near the border, caused the displacement of more than a million people from southern Lebanon who moved to northern Lebanon. These days, hundreds of thousands are returning to their homes, many of which were destroyed as they contained weapons and missiles.
