For the first time since October 7th

WATCH: Hamas releases proof of life from hostage Idan Alexander

Security experts view the video's release as part of Hamas' ongoing psychological warfare campaign during the hostage negotiations. Alexander is among dozens of hostages still held in Gaza since the October 7 attacks.

Idan Alexander

Hamas released a new hostage video on Friday showing captured American-Israeli soldier Idan Alexander making an emotional plea for his freedom, marking the first proof of life since his abduction during the October 7 attacks.

In the video, Alexander, who was captured from the Kissufim military post near Gaza, is seen addressing both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former President Donald Trump, begging for intervention to secure his release.

"As an American, I believe in the power of the United States," Alexander says in the footage, directly appealing to Trump. "Please use your power as president and all possible means to negotiate our release."

The young soldier, who immigrated to Israel alone and voluntarily joined the IDF, also delivered a heart-wrenching message to his family: "I miss you very much. Every day I pray that I will see you soon. Please stay strong. It's only a matter of time until this nightmare ends."

Idan Alexander's family confirmed that it's really him in Hamas's latest hostage video, released Saturday evening. But they're asking for space as they process this difficult moment.

"Let's be clear - this video proves what we've been saying all along. We have people still alive in Gaza, and they're suffering terribly," the Hostages' Families Headquarters said.

The Alexander family acknowledged the military's recent wins in Gaza - crushing Hamas infrastructure and taking out top leaders like Haniyeh, Deif, and Sinwar.

At the same time, they said "You can't claim victory while even one person is still in their hands - alive or dead. We need all 101 of them home. The living need to start healing, and those we've lost need to be laid to rest in Israeli soil."

They are calling on Israelis to join them tonight (Saturday night) in Tel Aviv's Hostages' Square and at rallies across the country.
