IDF: We are preparing for "any scenario" in Syria

The IDF said that Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and Defense Minister Katz just completed a situational assessment with the General Staff Forum today (Thursday) regarding the situation in Syria.

The IDF further said that it was following all events and preparing for every scenario in offense and defense, saying that the IDF would not allow a threat to emerge near the border with Syria and would work to defeat any threat presented to Israeli citizens.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said previously that Israel is watching events in Syria closely but refused to elaborate as to what Israel's goals are aside from protecting its borders - if any.
