After weeks of fighting and 86 dead since October 7 - Givati Brigade takes stock
The Givati Brigade, which has been in the thick of the fighting ever since the war started, is now preparing for future missions.

Forces of the Givati Brigade combat team, following weeks of intense fighting in the Jebaliya area of the northern Gaza Strip, are now preparing for their next missions following the ceasefire agreed to in the hostage deal with Hamas.
Overall, the Givati Brigade lost 86 soldiers and commanders during the defensive battles of October 7 and during the fighting throughout the Gaza Strip. They fought for a year and three months, eliminated large numbers of terrorists and located and destroyed multiple weapons and terrorist infrastructures.
The Givati Brigade commander told his troops that "all throughout, you demonstrated professionalism, camaraderie, and fighting spirit which is an example and a model for the values of the IDF. Thanks to the connection between you, the dedication, and the mental strength of each and every one of you, we created a winning unit together."
He then addressed the unit's losses:
"Even on this day, we do not forget the heavy price we paid. During the battles, we lost soldiers and commanders, heroes of Israel who were part of us and who paid with their lives for a better future for our children. We remember them with pride and deep pain, and they will continue to be an integral part of the brigade's legacy. I want to send wishes for a speedy recovery to our wounded brothers, who in every meeting remind us all what warrior heroism is and provide inspiration for heroic coping of body and soul."
"We went through difficult events," the 'Rotem' Battalion Commander added to his warriors, "loss of brothers in arms and our closest friends, our brothers who gave their lives protecting the homeland and defending our home and country. We went through many encounters, many of our friends were wounded, most of us took hits but remained strong. I am proud of you for this, this is your role, Rotem Battalion warrior, this is why you enlisted and this is why we went on this mission. Be proud of yourselves."
