Hamas "Trump is serious"

Hamas-PA Deal? Senior Leader's Shocking Statement on Gaza's Future

In an interview with the Saudi news outlet Al Arabiya, Abu Marzouk acknowledged that regional and international support would be critical in the postwar administration of Gaza. He pointed out that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas could play a role in the region's future governance.

Hamas has, in recent months, taken steps toward collaboration with rival Palestinian factions. A significant development occurred last month when Hamas and Fatah, the two largest Palestinian political forces, agreed to form a joint committee tasked with overseeing Gaza’s reconstruction. This committee, as outlined in a draft obtained by AFP, would consist of 10-15 independent figures, who would focus on managing critical sectors such as the economy, education, health, humanitarian aid, and rebuilding efforts.

However, Israel has firmly opposed any continuing involvement by Hamas in the governance of Gaza, expressing distrust in the Palestinian Authority’s capacity to govern the enclave effectively. Despite Israel's stance, Abu Marzouk dismissed Israel’s concerns, stating that Hamas is open to engaging in dialogue with all parties except Israel.

Furthermore, Abu Marzouk signaled a willingness to engage with the United States on the issue. He acknowledged U.S. President Donald Trump’s role in securing the ongoing ceasefire and hostage release agreement, calling him a "serious president." However, Abu Marzouk strongly criticized Trump’s controversial proposal suggesting that Gaza’s population be relocated to Jordan and Egypt, declaring that no Palestinian or Arab would accept such a plan. "It will not succeed," he stated firmly.
