Report: Israel building military bases in Syria
According to satellite imagery, there are two construction sites that appear to be forward observation posts, similar to those in the Golan Heights area, in addition to a new road located about 10 km south of Quneitra.

Israel is building 2 military bases in the buffer zone of the Golan Heights that it captured during the current war, according to the Washington Post and the BBC.
According to satellite imagery, there are two construction sites that appear to be forward observation posts, similar to those in the Golan Heights area, in addition to a new road located about 10 km south of Quneitra.
The base at Jubta al-Hasab is more developed, while the base to the south appears to be under construction. The former will provide better visibility, while the latter has better access to the road network in the area.
The works are being carried out at a distance of 600 meters in the so-called disengagement zone on the western edge, better known as the Alpha line.
Recent satellite images from January 21, 2025, reveal the deployment of military equipment at a new base under construction. The construction, which is believed to have started on January 1, 2025, is supported by earlier, lower-resolution satellite imagery.
The images show four prefabricated guard posts, suggesting that the site is being prepared to host at least a temporary military presence. Jeremy Binney, a Middle East expert at Janes, shared his insights with the BBC, saying, “The photo shows four prefabricated guard posts that they are likely to install in the corners. This indicates that they plan to maintain at least a temporary presence at this location.”
Additionally, Israeli soldiers have been observed near the town of Majdal Shams, located around 5.5 kilometers from the new construction, in a buffer zone area. This proximity to the base raises further questions about the nature and purpose of the military build-up.
