Hague Group or Haters Group? South Africa joins with others to boycott Israel
Not satisfied with their "genocide" case against Israel in the ICJ in the Hague, South Africa has now joined with other countries to declare a boycott of Israel on what they call international legal grounds.

South Africa has joined with other countries to declare an arms embargo and boycott campaign against Israel due to its actions in the war in Gaza and various rulings in the Hague regarding the status of Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, according to Breitbart News.
The group, which includes the countries of Belize, Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Honduras, Malaysia, Namibia, Senegal, and South Africa, assembled at the Hague in the Netherlands last Friday to declare their joint campaign against Israel.
All countries have a record of hostility towards Israel, especially following October 7 and the war in Gaza. South Africa filed suit against Israel in the International Court of Justice in the Hague charging Israel with "genocide" in Gaza, a suit which many members of the group joined.
Other countries either declared a boycott of Israeli goods or enforced already existing bans, such as Malaysia and Colombia.
In their joint statement, the Hague Group said that they will comply with the criminal warrants issued by the International Criminal Court for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November 2024.
They also said that they would "...[p]revent provision or transfer of arms, munitions and related equipment to Israel, in all cases where there is a clear risk that such arms and related items might be used to commit or facilitate violations of humanitarian law, international human rights law, or the prohibition on genocide."
The Group also said they would "[p]revent the docking of vessels at any port, if applicable, within our territorial jurisdiction, in all cases where there is a clear risk of the vessel being used to carry military fuel and weaponry to Israel, which might be used to commit or facilitate violations of humanitarian law, of international human rights law, and of the prohibition on genocide in Palestine, in keeping with states’ peremptory legal obligation to cooperate towards preventing genocide and other violations of peremptory norms by all legal measures at their disposal."
The immediate ramifications of these decisions are unclear, given that Israel has already experienced a deterioration in trade and diplomatic relations with all these nations since October 7 and the war in Gaza.
