IDF Eliminates Key Commander of Iran-Linked "Imam Hossein" Division
Artillery chief Kamal Melhem killed in targeted strike on the elite multinational unit’s headquarters in Lebanon.

The IDF has confirmed the elimination of Kamal Melhem, a high-ranking official within the Imam Hossein Division, an elite multinational force operating in Lebanon alongside Hezbollah.
According to military statements, Melhem was killed during a precise strike on the organization’s main headquarters. He served as the division’s head of artillery and was a central figure in the procurement of advanced weaponry. In addition to his tactical roles, Melhem functioned as the chief of staff for the division’s overall commander.
A Multinational Iranian Proxy
The Imam Hossein Division holds a unique position within the regional "Axis of Resistance." While it fights on the Lebanese front, it is directly affiliated with and funded by Iran.
Impact on Operations
The IDF stated that the strike on the headquarters and the removal of Melhem deals a significant blow to the division’s logistical and operational capabilities. By targeting the individual responsible for both artillery fire and weapon acquisition, Israel aims to disrupt the unit’s ability to coordinate long-range attacks and sustain its equipment stockpiles.
