IDF Colonel & Police Officer Arrested in Shocking Attempted Murder Plot

The Police Internal Investigations Department (PIID/Machash) announced on Tuesday the arrest of a police officer and two of his relatives, including an IDF Colonel in the reserves, under suspicion of planning and executing a premeditated attempted murder.

The three suspects were arrested on Monday following an investigation into a severe incident that occurred a month and a half ago. According to the allegations, the suspects set up a planned ambush to carry out the attempted murder. Investigators suspect it was a coordinated operation executed with the full knowledge of all involved parties.

Abuse of Authority and IDF Involvement

The investigation further reveals that both of the police officer's arrested relatives serve as officers in the Israel Defense Forces, with one holding the rank of Colonel (Aluf Mishne) in the reserves.

The police officer is specifically suspected of exploiting his position, status, and professional connections within the Israel Police to facilitate the crime. According to authorities, the gravity of the case is heightened by the involvement of the military officers and raises harsh questions regarding the abuse of authority and status within the law enforcement system.

Court Proceedings and Gag Order

The investigation was launched following the incident several weeks ago and was conducted jointly by the PIID Southern Team and the Israel Police's Rotem Intelligence and Research Unit.

On Monday, the three suspects were brought before the Be'er Sheva Magistrate's Court for a closed-door hearing.
