Following his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, White House envoy Jared Kushner and Nikolai Mladenov, director-general of the Peace Council, met Monday with Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the President's Residence in Jerusalem. The discussion centered on the Peace Council's efforts, led by President Trump and his team, to advance the next phases of planning for the Gaza Strip.
Herzog: Gaza Plan Must Ensure Security
Israeli president meets with White House envoy Jared Kushner and Peace Council chief Nikolai Mladenov to discuss American plan for Gaza Strip

In his remarks, Herzog stressed that "the next steps in Gaza must guarantee the security of the State of Israel and its citizens, and bring stability and a better future for all peoples in the region. I deeply appreciate President Trump, U.S. Special Envoy Jared Kushner, and Nikolai Mladenov, director-general of the Peace Council, and their teams who are working toward a new future for Israel and the Gaza Strip based on President Trump's 20-point plan. This is a challenging issue."

Herzog added that "I was impressed that Israel's security interest is an important and central component of the plan, and I emphasized this point. I congratulated the teams on their work and encouraged them to continue working toward a better future for our children."
Earlier in the day, Kushner met with Prime Minister Netanyahu in what reports described as an extended conversation. A political source said after the meeting that an understanding was reached that no reconstruction will take place anywhere in the Gaza Strip without the complete disarmament of Hamas.
