Israeli Supreme Court Justice Daphna Barak-Erez issued a temporary order on Friday freezing the transfer of a high-profile investigation, known locally as "the Patzarit case", to State Attorney Amit Aisman. The stay comes in response to a motion requesting a further hearing on a ruling issued approximately two weeks ago.
In her decision, Barak-Erez emphasized that the measure is being taken at this stage "as a precautionary matter only," and does not reflect any position on the merits of the motion itself or the arguments raised within it.
"As a precautionary matter only, and without taking any position at this stage, I am ordering a temporary stay of execution of the judgment that is the subject of the motion, by way of freezing the existing situation regarding handling of the investigation file by the State Attorney, until further decision," she wrote.
The decision came after the motion for a further hearing was assigned to Barak-Erez for review. The motion was filed by the original petitioners in the case: Knesset member Avichai Boaron, the organization "Bechanu Bachayim" (We Chose Life), and the Lavi Association.
