Defense Minister Israel Katz launched a scathing attack on Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Liberman over his proposal to grant Jordan administrative and security control over Areas A and B in Judea and Samaria. Katz accused the opposition of planning to dismantle settlements while the current government strengthens them and crushes terrorism.

Defense Minister Israel Katz blasts Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Liberman's proposal for Jordanian control over Areas A and B, warning that the left's plans would uproot settlements and create a terror state
"Liberman and Yair Golan are revealing their dangerous intentions, as if they learned nothing from October 7," Katz declared. He noted that Liberman, who sees himself as a potential prime minister in a rotation agreement, recently proposed a unilateral withdrawal from Gaza and handing the Gaza Strip and the Philadelphi smuggling corridor to Egypt. "Now he's proposing to station a Jordanian army in Qalqilya, next to Route 6, and to transfer security and administrative control of all Areas A and B in Judea and Samaria to the Jordanians, when Jordan's declared policy is the establishment of a Palestinian state."
Katz continued his assault by targeting Golan, the designated defense minister in a potential left-wing government. "His partner Yair Golan, who is preparing to assume the role, declares that he will uproot 100,000 Jewish settlers from their homes immediately upon taking office," he said. "These are two proposals that connect to one dangerous policy: uprooting Jews from their homes, withdrawal, and entrusting our security to others on the path to establishing a Palestinian terror state in the heart of the land."
The defense minister highlighted his government's security achievements, stating that Israel evacuated 40,000 residents from refugee camps in northern Samaria, dismantled the Iranian terror infrastructure built there, and established permanent IDF control over the camps. He claimed that terror activity throughout Judea and Samaria has been reduced by 80% to its lowest level ever, while the government has established 104 new communities and 160 new farms.
Katz concluded with a stark warning: "A left-wing government, dependent on Arab parties and advancing these plans, will endanger the settlements and the security of Israeli citizens."
