More than 100 Israelis rioted overnight Monday in the village of Jalud in the Shomron, the IDF said, torching property and throwing stones at security forces during an operation to return a Palestinian family to their home.

Three Border Police fighters were lightly wounded and two suspects were arrested, according to the IDF spokesperson.

IDF and Border Police forces had entered the village to enable the family to return to a house they had been forced to leave after a series of nationalist crimes against them, the army said. The return was not completed because of the rioting.

Rioters blocked roads, burned tyres and threw stones at security forces throughout the incident.

Buildings belonging to Palestinians were set alight, along with vehicles and other property, the IDF said. A security vehicle was damaged in the clashes.

Forces used crowd-dispersal measures and arrested two suspects, who were handed over to Samaria District Police for questioning. Police investigators and forensic teams are expected to enter the scene under IDF escort to collect evidence and testimony.

The security establishment condemned the events, saying they "divert attention, undermine stability and harm the defence and prevention operations of the security forces".
