Three years after the October 7 massacre, Idan Amedi returned to the last moment before everything changed. In a post on his Instagram account, the singer and actor shared a photograph of himself with his daughter Yaeli on his shoulders, taken on October 6, 2023, one day before the war broke out.
Amedi's last photo before October 7
The singer and actor, who was severely wounded fighting in Gaza, posted the final image on his phone before the war, his daughter on his shoulders, taken October 6, 2023

"This is the last photo I took on my phone before all our lives changed," Amedi wrote alongside the image, describing the unbearable gap between it and the photos and videos that accumulated on his phone since.
After that quiet family photograph, he said, came documentation of "burned houses, civilians lying lifeless at the sides of the road, Kfar Aza, the mountains, the tunnels, friends who are no longer with us."
"One day from those clear skies to three years of pain"
Amedi, who fought in the Gaza Strip himself and was severely wounded during the war, dedicated the rest of his words to the bereaved families and the fallen.
"One day from those clear skies, to three years of pain and longing," he wrote. "To the many bereaved families who carry the pain and mourning every moment without pause."
He closed the post with a message to the families of the fallen: "Because of them we are here, privileged to lift our children on our shoulders, to see clear skies. Because of your loved ones, because of their courage and the values you gave them. We will remember them forever."
