Argentina's President Milei Marks October 7 with 'Am Yisrael Chai' Post

Argentina's President Javier Milei posted a message on his X account Wednesday marking the third anniversary of the October 7 massacre. The Argentine president, known for his unwavering support of Israel, wrote "AM ISRAEL JAI", Am Yisrael Chai.

The image attached to the post shows a clenched fist draped in the Israeli flag, alongside the traditional phrase "Am Yisrael Chai" in large black letters. The post went up at 4:04 p.m. Israel time, the latest expression of Milei's consistent stance alongside the State of Israel on the international stage.

President Milei, elected to office in 2023, has become one of Israel's most vocal supporters among world leaders. Last month, during his visit to New York for the UN General Assembly, Milei met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. At the meeting, Netanyahu thanked the Argentine president for his steadfast and unqualified support of the State of Israel.

"President Milei is one of the great leaders of our generation," Netanyahu said at the meeting. "You stand for the truth. You don't care, you just speak for the truth. That's why you support Israel because we share this common heritage of justice and speaking for the truth, and nobody does it better than you."

Milei himself told a French media outlet that "without Netanyahu — Netanyahu is an exceptional leader with geopolitical vision." The Argentine president went on to warn: "Without Netanyahu, I have doubts whether Israel would exist today — would continue to exist. And that would be a real danger not only to Israel, but also to Europe and the entire West."

Milei's special connection to the Torah world and Chassidus has been evident in his frequent visits to the Ohel of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in Queens, New York. Last week, during his stay in New York, the president visited the Ohel on the eve of Hoshana Rabbah. In addition, Milei visited Yeshiva Darchei Torah in New York, where he received the "Ohev Yisrael" award in recognition of his support for Israel and the Jewish people.

On the eve of Simchas Torah, Milei posted a story on his official Instagram page showing him meeting with Rabbi Levi Matusof, the Chabad shliach to the European Union institutions. What stood out was the niggun the president chose to accompany the photo, the special hakafos niggun of the Rebbe's father, Rav Levi Yitzchak Schneerson zt"l, which Chabad customarily sings during Simchas Torah hakafos.

The Argentine president is known for his deep connection to Biblical texts. In an interview with the French network LCI, Milei noted that he makes a point of drawing inspiration from the Torah, particularly from the book of Shemos. "I always make reference to the Torah, maybe you've noticed that. And I quote passages from the Torah, including the book of Exodus," Milei said. "For me, it is the most important liberation story of humanity."
