The Israel Prison Service conducted a large-scale operation early Wednesday morning across multiple security detention facilities holding terrorists, launching the raids at precisely 6:29 AM, the exact time the October 7 massacre began three years ago.
The coordinated action took place simultaneously in five facilities where security prisoners are held, according to the Prison Service. The operation was carried out following an operational assessment ahead of the sensitive anniversary date.
The raids were designed to reinforce control and authority in the detention facilities, locate prohibited items, and preempt any attempt to disrupt order or threaten the security of the facilities and staff, as part of heightened preparedness for this sensitive date.
The operation included extensive searches of cells and wings. Combat prison guards from the northern, central and southern districts took part, alongside fighters from the elite 'Metzada' unit, the 'Nachshon' unit, district units (Yamaz), combat prison guard units from the primary response forces (Katar), and prison Yamar units.
In line with the policy of Prison Service Commissioner Brigadier General Kobi Yaakobi, the service conducts proactive operational activity throughout the year to implement prison authority, and during periods of heightened security sensitivity, prevention and thwarting efforts are intensified according to situational assessments.
The Prison Service stated it will continue to act with determination to maintain order, authority and security in detention facilities, and to thwart any threat emanating from within them.
