The family of Hymanut Kasau, the Ethiopian girl who disappeared from a Tzfat absorption center 962 days ago, met Wednesday for the first time with Shin Bet director David Zini, in what the family described as a breakthrough in their campaign to bring her home.
The meeting, held in Zini's office and lasting approximately an hour, brought together Hymanut's father Tesfaye, mother Banchi, eldest sister Yeros, and the family's representatives: strategic adviser Doron Hadar, attorney Dror Matityahu, and activist Tesfaye Bishao, who served as translator.
During the session, the family and their team walked through the sequence of events since the disappearance, alongside their feelings and expectations from the security establishment. Zini expressed deep empathy for the family's suffering, showed interest in the details of the case, and presented openness and willingness to expand the organization's involvement in the investigation, subject to approval from the Attorney General.
The family members expressed emotion at the willingness of Zini and his team to do everything possible to help, whether through cooperation with the Israel Police or if a decision is made to transfer the case to Shin Bet responsibility.
