Weather warning for election day

Israel Meteorological Service warns of rain from midday Tuesday that could cause flash floods in Negev streams, the Arava and Dead Sea area

Weather Warning Issued Ahead of Tuesday's Election Day

Could the weather affect turnout at the polls? The Israel Meteorological Service issued a special notice Friday morning ahead of Tuesday's election day, warning of rain and potential flash floods across wide areas of the country.

According to the service, rain is expected from midday Tuesday in the Negev, the Arava and the Dead Sea region. The rainfall raises a real risk of flash floods in southern streams, and the public is urged to stay alert and keep away from streambeds and drainage channels.

Rain is also forecast during election day in other parts of the country, including the center and north. The Meteorological Service clarified that flooding is not expected in those areas.

After the polls close, the rain system is expected to intensify. The service noted that immediately following election day, a much more significant winter storm is forecast to arrive, and advised the public to continue monitoring forecasts in the coming days.
