Senior Medic on Scene
Terrifying Incident: Toddler Falls From Moving Car in Eilat, Sustains Head Injury
An 18-month-old toddler in Eilat was injured and rushed to the hospital after the car door allegedly opened mid-journey, causing the child to fall out, according to the mother's account given to a senior MDA medic.

Child Ejected from Vehicle
A highly unusual and alarming incident occurred this evening, Tuesday, in Eilat, where an 18-month-old toddler was injured after falling out of a moving car on Derech Harim Street. The child, a year and a half old, was found injured on the road and was immediately treated by emergency medical services before being evacuated to Yoseftal Hospital in a stable, moderate condition, suffering from a head injury.
The emergency call was received shortly before 8:30 PM, prompting Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics and medics to rush to the scene.
A senior MDA medic, Karla Fuller, happened to be driving home when she encountered the situation and was the first to provide aid. Fuller described the moment: "I was driving home and suddenly saw a car stop and a woman calling for help. I approached her immediately."
Mother's Account and Immediate Care
The child’s mother explained the terrifying event, telling the medic that during the drive, the car door opened and her son, who was sitting in the back seat, flew out onto the road.
Fuller quickly examined the toddler. "I checked him quickly and noticed he was suffering from a minor head injury," she said. She provided initial medical treatment at the scene. The child was fully conscious throughout the incident and subsequent treatment.
The toddler was then transported by ambulance to Yoseftal Hospital in Eilat, where his condition was defined as moderate and stable. The incident immediately prompted a review of the circumstances surrounding the car door opening and the child's restraint within the vehicle. Such occurrences underscore the critical importance of ensuring that child safety locks are engaged and that children are properly secured in approved car seats or booster seats, as even a moment of distraction or a vehicle malfunction can lead to severe consequences. Authorities are expected to investigate the exact cause of the door opening during the drive.
