Laying Down A Marker
Donald Trump: Only total dismantlement of Iran's nuclear program acceptable
In an interview released today, the President aligned with Israel's stance that only the complete dismantlement of the country's nuclear weapons program was an acceptable end point to talks.

In an interview released today (Sunday) by Meet the Press, President Donald Trump said that nothing less than "total dismantlement" of the Iranian nuclear program was an acceptable outcome to current talks between the United States and Iran.
In the interview, Trump said he also rejected the idea that Iran needs a civilian nuclear program for energy since it has a lot of oil. He said that he wants Iran to be successful, but that the one thing it cannot have is a nuclear weapon.
Trump thus aligned himself with Prime Minister Netanyahu's stance that only the "Libyan option" of completely dismantling the country's nuclear war program is a viable option, since any limitations that leaves the Iranian program alive would enable rapid enrichment of uranium to weapons grade material and the subsequent development of nuclear bombs, to be aimed at Israel and other countries in the region.
