Inside the Powerful Reunion: US Envoy Steve Witkoff Meets Freed Hostages
US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff delivered messages of support to four IDF soldiers recently freed from Hamas captivity during an emotional hospital visit. The diplomatic meeting highlighted ongoing US efforts to secure the release of remaining hostages.

US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff met with four recently freed IDF soldiers at Israel's Rabin Medical Center, conveying President Trump's elation at their return and reinforcing America's commitment to bringing all remaining hostages home.
The emotional meeting, which took place last Thursday, brought together Witkoff with former captives Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy, Liri Albag, and Karina Ariev. The four surveillance soldiers had just been released after spending over 15 months in Hamas captivity. Their fellow soldier, Agam Berger, was freed the same day as the meeting.
"The people of the United States stand with you, the president stands with you," Witkoff told the soldiers and their families, with Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer present. "We have a common goal to bring everybody home so every family can have this moment."
In a touching response, Albag spoke for the group, explaining how awareness of ongoing rescue efforts had sustained them during captivity. "It gave us the hope to stay alive," she said. The soldiers then formed heart symbols with their hands, with Albag adding that spreading love was now their primary mission.
According to Channel 12 news, the soldiers shared that Trump's election victory had boosted their spirits while in captivity, as they believed it could help secure their release.
The meeting included lighter moments as well. Before leaving, Witkoff joked with Gilboa, who had received a marriage proposal while in captivity, that he expected a wedding invitation. "I want to go to all the weddings!" he added cheerfully.
The meeting was part of a broader diplomatic push. The same day, Witkoff met with families of current hostages and freed captives at Tel Aviv's Hostages Square, emphasizing the importance of bringing everyone home – including those who didn't survive, to allow proper burial.
