Adolf Hitler Uunona is a 59-year-old Namibian politician and long-time member of the ruling South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO) party, who has held a councillor seat in the Ompundja (also spelled Omupundja) constituency in the northern Oshana region since 2004.

He first gained international attention in 2020 when he won the seat with 85% of the vote (1,196 votes out of 1,406), despite his name drawing comparisons to the Nazi leader.

Uunona has repeatedly clarified that he has no ideological ties to Adolf Hitler, explaining that his father named him without understanding the historical implications, as such German names were common in Namibia (a former German colony from 1884 to 1915).

He has stated, "My father gave me this name, but it does not mean I have Adolf Hitler's character," and noted that as a child, he saw the name as normal, only later realizing its connotations.

Uunona omits "Hitler" in public, has "nothing to do with" Nazi ideology, and fought against apartheid in his youth.

Regarding the 2025 re-election: Namibia's general elections, including regional council seats, are scheduled for November 27, 2025 (today's date).

Recent reports indicate Uunona is poised to win re-election in his constituency, described as a potential "landslide" based on his strong local popularity and past performance.

However, official results are not yet confirmed, as voting is ongoing or just concluding.

One unverified social media claim suggests he has already won, but mainstream sources describe him as "expected" or "set" to retain the seat.
