Azerbaijan President is Furious With Iran

"A stain that will never be washed away": Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev destroys Iran’s "vile and dishonorable" regime after it launched suicide drones at a school and airport, just hours after Baku sent a rescue plane to save Iranian diplomats in Beirut.

Today, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev spoke during an emergency meeting of the Azerbaijani Security Council following an Iranian drone strike on the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan.

President Aliyev described a shocking sequence of events that occurred within a single morning:

The Request for Help: Early on March 5, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister contacted Baku. He admitted that Iran lacked the resources or ability to evacuate its diplomatic staff from Lebanon due to the escalating conflict (specifically the IDF's intensive strikes in Dahiyeh).

Aliyev’s Response: Aliyev personally authorized an Azerbaijani plane to fly to Beirut to rescue the Iranian diplomats. He famously refused Iran's offer to pay for the flight, stating, "If we do not help in a time of distress, when will we help?"

The "Vile" Response: Only hours after Baku agreed to help save Iranian lives in Beirut, Iran launched several drones (identified as Arash-2 suicide drones) into Nakhchivan.

One drone struck the Nakhchivan International Airport terminal.

Another landed near a school in the village of Shakarabad.

Four civilians were injured in the attacks.

Aliyev’s speech highlighted the perceived "ingratitude" of the Iranian regime. He noted that he was the only world leader to visit an Iranian embassy to offer condolences after the death of Ali Khamenei on February 28, yet Iran responded by attacking Azerbaijani soil.

Current Status

Military Alert: Azerbaijan has placed its military on Level One (Maximum) Alert and summoned the Iranian ambassador for a severe reprimand.

Suspension of Ties: Azerbaijan has indicated it may once again suspend all diplomatic relations with Tehran, mirroring the fallout from the 2023 embassy attack.

Iran's Denial: Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has denied the attack, calling it an "Israeli false flag," but independent OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) has verified the drones were launched from Iranian territory.
