A video circulating online appears to show a member of Iran’s Basij militia abandoning his post, saying he believes the Islamic Republic is nearing collapse.

In the footage, the man identifies himself as a Basij member and films inside what he says is a militia barracks that previously served as a school. He claims the facility has already been abandoned by most of the personnel stationed there.

“Everyone is gone or leaving. I’m going home too,” the man says in the video. “It seems like the regime is finished and we should surrender. I just hope the people don’t take revenge on us.”

The Basij is a paramilitary force affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and has long played a key role in enforcing internal security and suppressing protests.

The video could not be independently verified, but it comes amid increasing reports of instability within Iran’s military and security apparatus as the war with Israel and the United States continues.

According to assessments released in recent days by analysts monitoring the conflict, Iranian command structures have been significantly disrupted following a series of strikes targeting senior leadership and strategic facilities. Israeli and U.S. forces have reportedly carried out multiple precision attacks against remaining military command nodes, missile infrastructure and suspected nuclear-related sites.

Analysts say these strikes, combined with sustained military pressure, may be contributing to fractures within Iran’s armed forces.

Reports circulating among regional monitoring groups have suggested that some commanders have abandoned their positions and that conscripts are increasingly being left without clear leadership or operational direction. While the extent of these reports remains difficult to confirm, they point to potential strains within Iran’s military chain of command.

At the same time, the conflict has expanded beyond conventional military operations. Cyber operations targeting infrastructure have been reported across multiple countries in the region, including Israel and several Gulf states.

There are also growing concerns among analysts that additional countries could become involved in the conflict in various ways, either directly or indirectly. Reports have suggested that some regional and international actors are monitoring the situation closely as the war continues to evolve.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding many of the reports emerging from inside Iran, the video of the Basij member leaving his post reflects the broader sense of instability that analysts say may be developing within parts of the Iranian security system.
