The SHOCKING Truth Behind the Senate Hearing Brawl
Who is Brian McGinnis? Investigation reveals the background of the "Marine" activist arrested after a scuffle with Sen. Tim Sheehy. From anti-Israel activism to assault charges, see why this North Carolina Green Party candidate is making headlines.

An investigation into the activist who disrupted a high-profile Senate hearing on Wednesday has revealed a history of political agitation and anti-Israel involvement. The man, identified as Brian C. McGinnis, gained national attention after footage showed U.S. Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT), a former Navy SEAL, physically assisting Capitol Police in removing him from the chamber.
McGinnis, who was dressed in a Marine Corps uniform during the disruption, shouted anti-Israel slogans including "No one wants to fight for Israel" and "Free Palestine."
Agitator Profile: A History of Protest
Social media records and videos reviewed by JBN indicate that McGinnis is a frequent fixture in activist circles. His history includes participation in numerous anti-Israel, anti-war, and anti-ICE demonstrations.
Political Ambitions: McGinnis is currently the Green Party candidate for the U.S. Senate in North Carolina. The North Carolina Green Party has since issued a statement praising his actions at the hearing.
Family Background: McGinnis is married to a Palestinian activist, and the couple frequently posts images of their children in political garb, including the "watermelon" imagery often used to symbolize Palestinian resistance.
Professional History: While identifying primarily as a veteran and firefighter, McGinnis is noted as a "serial fundraiser" who has launched multiple GoFundMe campaigns for various causes and personal legal needs.
The Scuffle and "Broken Arm" Claims
Following his removal from the Senate Armed Services subcommittee hearing, Code Pink and McGinnis’s campaign team alleged that Senator Sheehy "broke his arm" while assisting police.
However, multiple video angles tell a more complex story. The footage shows McGinnis violently resisting the three Capitol Police officers and intentionally grabbing a doorway to block his removal. In the struggle, McGinnis appeared to jam his own hand between the door and the frame while the officers and Sheehy attempted to dislodge him to clear the hallway.
Legal and Military Status:
Criminal Charges: The U.S. Capitol Police have charged McGinnis with three counts of assault on a police officer, three counts of resisting arrest, and one count of crowding/obstructing. Three officers were reportedly treated for injuries following the scuffle.
GoFundMe Success: Despite the charges of assault, a fundraiser for McGinnis’s legal and medical fees has already raised approximately $10,000.
Uniform Violation: While McGinnis is a confirmed Marine veteran (serving from 2000–2004), military veterans are strictly prohibited by federal service regulations from wearing their uniforms during political protests or in any manner that implies official military endorsement of a private cause.
Senator Sheehy defended his intervention on social media, stating that McGinnis was "fighting back" against police and that he stepped in to help "de-escalate" the dangerous situation. "This gentleman came to the Capitol looking for a confrontation, and he got one," Sheehy wrote.
