The Trump administration is aggressively shifting its military and intelligence focus toward Latin America following explosive intelligence reports regarding a massive military buildup in Cuba. High-level leaks published by Axios indicate that Havana has purchased more than three00 advanced military attack drones from Russia and Iran since 2023. These strategic assets have been quietly distributed across various secure locations throughout the island.

The situation has reached a critical boiling point as intelligence tracking reveals that Cuban officials have spent the past month actively discussing operational plans to launch drone strikes. The potential targets include the American naval base at Guantanamo Bay, U.S. military vessels operating in Caribbean waters, and a specific island territory located off the coast of Florida.

The leaked data could provide the White House with an immediate justification to initiate direct military action against the communist state. A senior American official confirmed that Cuban intelligence personnel are actively studying recent Iranian defensive tactics to learn how Tehran engaged the U.S. military. Furthermore, Iranian military advisors are currently on the ground in Cuba assisting the local regime.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla hit back fiercely at the reports, accusing Washington of fabricating a fraudulent case of deception to justify devastating economic sanctions and a potential military intervention. Rodriguez maintained that Cuba does not threaten anyone and is not interested in war, but the diplomatic denials have done little to slow the escalating tensions.

The pressure on Havana has been reinforced by direct, high-stakes brinkmanship from intelligence chiefs. CIA Director John Ratcliffe recently completed a secret visit to Cuba, issuing a blunt warning to local leaders that the totalitarian regime must be completely dismantled if they wish to see an end to crushing American economic sanctions.
