Iranian threat expands

Rafael Chairman Dr. Yuval Steinitz warns that a "desperate" Iranian regime may launch "suicidal" strikes against Europe and NATO allies. Steinitz argues Tehran prefers a war with the U.S. over internal collapse.

In a dramatic interview with Meet the Press, Dr. Yuval Steinitz, Chairman of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and former Intelligence Minister, warned that the world is underestimating Iran’s destructive trajectory.

Steinitz cautioned that in a direct confrontation, Iranian ballistic missiles would likely target European capitals and NATO allies, moving the conflict far beyond Middle Eastern borders. He described a chilling shift in Tehran’s mindset, suggesting the regime may find it "better to fall in a war against the U.S. than to collapse from within."

Steinitz noted that his previous warnings regarding a Hamas mass-invasion were dismissed as "imaginary" before October 7; he urged global leaders not to repeat that mistake with Iran. He also asserted that Israel must never sign any agreement that binds its hands unless Iran officially recognizes Israel’s right to exist and ceases calls for its destruction.

While Steinitz focuses on the missile threat to Europe, his warnings align with long-standing U.S. intelligence assessments. According to the New York Times, Iran has spent decades building the largest missile arsenal in the Middle East, with several models capable of reaching distances over 2,000 kilometers, placing parts of the European Union within range.

Furthermore, the Pentagon has recently highlighted Iran's increasing role as a global arms supplier, notably providing thousands of "suicide drones" to Russia for use in Ukraine, proving that Iranian military technology is already impacting European security.
