A former Iranian parliamentary candidate died suddenly while delivering a speech at a nighttime rally in the city of Bila Savar, Iran.

Namat Alhami, who had connections to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran's elite military force, collapsed mid-address and was declared dead at the scene.

Iranian state media outlets reported that the cause of death appears to have been cardiac arrest. Alhami was a recognized figure in local political circles, having previously run for a seat in Iran's parliament and maintained longstanding ties to the Revolutionary Guards.

Video footage captured the dramatic moment when the speaker suddenly stopped talking and collapsed on stage.
