President Donald Trump held a major press conference today to provide an update on the war against the Iranian regime, delivering a series of dramatic revelations about the state of Tehran’s leadership and its military capabilities. During the briefing, Trump specifically addressed the rumors surrounding the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, suggesting the leader has been severely wounded or possibly killed in the ongoing strikes. The President also highlighted the total destruction of Iran’s naval mining capabilities, warning the regime that any further attempts to disrupt global trade in the Strait of Hormuz would result in a final, suicidal outcome for the Iranian state.

A Regime Without a Head

The most significant takeaway from the President's speech was his commentary on the physical state of the Iranian leadership. "They tell me Mojtaba's condition is difficult, maybe he lost a leg," Trump told the gathered press, adding with a grin that "other people say he might be dead." This lack of clarity regarding who is actually running the country has made diplomacy nearly impossible. "Iran is negotiating, but I don't know if they are ready for a deal. All their leaders are dead. We don't even know who we are talking to at all," Trump remarked. He described a regime in total disarray, noting that their air force and navy have been pummeled to the point of irrelevance. "They have no idea how to use their ships, their radars are down, and their leaders are eliminated. Other than that, they are doing quite well," he added sarcastically.

The War for the Strait of Hormuz

Turning to the maritime front, Trump announced that the coalition has effectively neutralized Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping. "We are hitting hard at their ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. More than 30 mine-laying ships were destroyed. We hit, to the best of our knowledge, all of their mine-laying ships," the President stated. He expressed doubt that the regime even managed to lay a single mine before their fleet was wiped out, calling any such attempt "suicide" for the regime. However, Trump also took the opportunity to criticize allies who have been slow to join the maritime security force, noting that some countries the U.S. has protected for years have shown little enthusiasm for helping secure the vital waterway.
