Israel Prepares for Military Showdown

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is arriving in Washington armed with fresh, alarming intelligence on Iran's rapid military resurgence and a clear message: Israel will not sit idle if nuclear talks collapse.

According to a CNN report citing two senior Israeli sources, Netanyahu plans to lay out the latest intelligence directly to President Donald Trump during their Wednesday meeting, with Iran topping the agenda as the "first and foremost" issue.

The intelligence paints a dire picture: Iran is aggressively restoring its ballistic missile stockpiles shattered during last year's intense 12-day war. Israeli assessments warn that, without decisive action, Tehran could rebuild its arsenal to a staggering 1,800–2,000 ballistic missiles within weeks or months.

One source told CNN: “Israel is worried about Iran's progress in restoring its ballistic missile stockpiles and capabilities to its status before the 12-day war.”

As the United States and Iran resume sensitive negotiations, focused narrowly on the nuclear program, Israel is growing deeply skeptical of any deal that leaves Tehran's missile threat and proxy network intact.

Israeli officials are already drafting contingency plans, including potential military strikes, should the talks fail.

In addition, Jerusalem is demanding full freedom of military action against Iran, even if an agreement is reached, and insists any deal must go far beyond nukes to include strict limits on ballistic missiles and an end to Iran's support for terror proxies like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.Iran, for its part, has made clear it will only discuss the nuclear file, rejecting broader restrictions.

The timing is critical. Trump has signaled openness to a more limited agreement centered on curbing Iran's nuclear ambitions, raising fears in Jerusalem of a repeat of the 2015 JCPOA, an outcome Netanyahu has long fought to prevent. This week's White House meeting, the seventh between the two leaders since Trump's second term began, comes as Israel works urgently to shape U.S. policy and ensure Iran's military machine does not roar back to full strength.

The CNN report stresses that the specific intelligence details come exclusively from Israeli sources and have not been independently verified by the network.

The region is watching closely. With tensions still simmering after last year's direct clashes, Netanyahu's visit could prove pivotal in determining whether diplomacy holds or whether the next round of conflict is already on the horizon.
