Against the background of the apparent deal between Israel and Hamas for the exchange of prisoners, US President Joe Biden addressed this evening (Tuesday) the American involvement in the process and said that reaching an agreement is very close. However, Biden made it clear that "nothing is finished until all the hostages are home."

"We are getting close to a deal after many weeks that we worked on it intensively," said Biden. "I have discussed the issue many times with Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Emir of Qatar, and our teams have arrived in the area for discussions. We are very close to returning dozens of abductees home, but I do not want to go into further details."

He also clarified that "nothing is closed yet, and nothing is finished until all the abductees held by Hamas are at home. When there are more details we will update on everything."
