Report: Trump’s secret peace plan for Ukraine leaked: What you need to know
Report details talks with Putin, Easter ceasefire, and the end of NATO membership hopes for Zelensky.

U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly pushing for a peace plan that would compel Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to agree to a ceasefire with Russia by Easter, according to a leaked report. Trump, who has frequently claimed that he could end the war in Ukraine in a single day, is aiming to resolve the conflict within 100 days.
The unconfirmed details, circulating in Ukrainian political and diplomatic circles and first reported by Strana, outline a ceasefire by April 20 that would halt Russia's continued advances. Other key points of the plan reportedly include a ban on Ukraine's NATO membership, an acceptance of Russian sovereignty over annexed territories, and the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Russia's Kursk region, which saw a counteroffensive in August. The plan would also involve a demilitarized zone, patrolled by a contingent of European soldiers—possibly including British troops—with no American forces involved.
The European Union is said to be asked to assist in the reconstruction of Ukraine, with the cost of rebuilding estimated at around $486 billion (£392 billion) over the next decade, according to the German Marshall Fund.
Ukrainian President Zelensky has denied the existence of such ceasefire plans, and the White House has not yet issued an official response. However, if the reports are confirmed, it could mean a phone call between Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin within days, with the two leaders meeting in late February or early March. An official ceasefire declaration could follow by April 20, with further details on the terms of the peace agreement expected by May 9. Following this, Ukraine would be asked to halt the extension of martial law and refrain from mobilizing troops.
In addition, Trump is reportedly planning to convene an International Peace Conference, facilitated by other major nations, to help broker a final agreement to end the war, which has claimed the lives of over 45,000 Ukrainian soldiers and an estimated 840,000 Russian troops, according to Zelensky and Ukrainian intelligence sources.
