"Shame on You": Jewish Residents Confront Prime Minister Starmer in London
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer faced a wall of anger and cries of "shame" as he visited the site of a terror attack in London's Jewish heartland.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer received a hostile reception on Thursday, April 30, 2026, when he visited the Golders Green neighborhood in North London following a terror stabbing that left two Jewish men injured. Angry residents, some waving Israeli flags, surrounded the Prime Minister and shouted "shame" as he arrived at the scene. The protest reflected a deep-seated frustration within the Jewish community over what they perceive as the government's failure to protect them against a surging wave of antisemitic violence.
During a meeting with local law enforcement, Starmer vowed that the government would "absolutely deal with the roots of antisemitism and extremism". He promised increased security budgets and new legislation to combat hostile actors, but his words did little to soothe the community. Shalom Rand, one of the stabbing victims who is currently in stable condition, told reporters that "people are truly worried, people are afraid, people do not feel comfortable walking in the street". Rand noted that many residents blame the government for their inaction in the face of escalating threats.
The visit also became a flashpoint for political rivals ahead of local elections. Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform Party, also visited the site and accused Starmer’s Labour party of neglecting Jewish interests to appease other parts of their voter base. Farage claimed there is a feeling that the government has "appeased or pampered" certain populations for electoral purposes rather than standing up for what is right. David Pearl, a 69-year-old local lawyer, summed up the local sentiment, saying, "Is the government going to do something significant? Well, let's wait and see. Don't hold your breath. I don't feel any safer".
