India: "Tsunami" Ride Crashes in Faridabad; Hero Cop Killed While Saving Victims | WATCH
A night of celebration at the 39th Surajkund International Crafts Mela turned into a nightmare when a massive swing ride collapsed, killing Inspector Jagdish Prasad and injuring 13 others. Shocking eyewitness footage shows the structure snapping mid-air, sending riders plunging to the ground.

Today (Saturday), around 6:15 p.m. IST, a "Tsunami" swing ride collapsed at the 39th Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Faridabad, Haryana, India, resulting in the death of one police officer and injuries to at least 13 others.
The deceased, Inspector Jagdish Prasad from Palwal district, was on security duty at the fair and rushed to rescue trapped riders but was fatally struck on the head and face by falling debris from the structure.
The injured, including visitors on the ride, were quickly transported to nearby hospitals via ambulances, with no further fatalities reported.
Eyewitness videos circulating online capture the chaotic moment: the colorful pendulum-style swing, loaded with riders and illuminated by lights, suddenly tilts abnormally mid-swing, one arm snaps, and the gondola crashes to the ground amid screams, scattering people and prompting a rush of bystanders and rescuers.
Authorities, including Faridabad Deputy Commissioner Ayush Sinha and Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta, responded immediately, barricading the area and initiating an investigation.
Preliminary findings point to a mechanical fault, possibly due to corrosion or poor maintenance, and an FIR has been registered against the ride operator, with a committee formed to probe safety lapses.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed condolences and directed officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured.
The annual Surajkund Mela, a major cultural event attracting thousands, has seen similar incidents in the past, including a swing collapse in 2001, raising ongoing concerns about ride safety and inspections at such fairs. Some reports also noted a separate welcome arch collapse at the event on the same day, contributing to additional injuries, though details remain limited.
