A police pursuit in New Hampshire ended in an unusual security breach at an airport over the weekend, after a 17-year-old driver allegedly under the influence crashed through the perimeter of Portsmouth International Airport, damaging ground equipment and a parked aircraft.
According to New Hampshire State Police, the incident unfolded Saturday evening shortly after 8:00 p.m., when an officer attempted to stop a black 2008 Ford Mustang believed to be connected to reported violations in nearby areas. The driver, identified as Wyatt Seeley, 17, of Rochester, fled instead of stopping.
Authorities reported that the Mustang, traveling without headlights at the time, breached the airport's perimeter fence and drove onto the aircraft ramp. It struck a tractor before colliding with a small, unoccupied stationary plane, at which point it came to a stop.
Seeley was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation, where authorities determined he had been driving while intoxicated. No other injuries were reported in the incident. The teenager faces multiple charges including driving under the influence, aggravated DUI, disobeying a police officer, and reckless operation of a vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 9.
